Unique access guide has launched

News item image
DisabledGo, the UK’s foremost provider of disabled access information, has produced a unique new online guide to Southport College to empower disabled people to access Further Education with confidence.

The aim of the guide is to provide detailed, accurate information so people can find out more about the access they will find when they come to visit. Put together thanks to sponsorship from Southport College, the DisabledGo guide covers all student services within the College.

By logging on to www.disabledgo.com people can check where their library is in relation to the main entrance, how far the car park is from the entrance, whether there are lifts to access other floors, whether a hearing loop is fitted in the class rooms, whether information is available in alternative formats and information about adapted toilets.

The availability of the online access guide will help increase student choice, improve student experience, reduce agitation and distress and lower missed opportunities by removing uncertainty and increase staff awareness of disability.

Darren Kirwin, Deputy Quality Manager at Southport College said “Southport College is committed to valuing diversity and to promoting and implementing equality of opportunity in all its activities and services. Working with DisabledGo enables the College to provide an additional and invaluable service to staff, students and visitors to the College.”

The DisabledGo –Southport College guide is available to use completely free of charge on www.DisabledGo.com
