About Southport College
Southport College is a successful, modern Further Education college providing a diverse programme of education and training to over 3,500 students. The College has a well established reputation for high standards, excellent facilities and outstanding support for students. The College was inspected by Ofsted in March 2013 who judged the college to be good and improving with major focus on teaching and learning.
Southport College is the area's largest provider of vocational education for 16-19 year olds, offering full-time courses in a wide range of subjects from Engineering and Hair & Beauty to Forensic Science and Games Design & Animation, as well as apprenticeship programmes in a variety of occupational areas. Inspectors found that a high number of students progress to employment and higher education.
In addition, Southport College provides hundreds of part-time and full-time courses to adult students; many of them supported by their employers on courses delivered in the workplace through our Work Based Learning team.
Southport College has a regional reputation for providing Access to Higher Education Courses for adults and has a growing programme of university education.
Southport College is committed to partnerships working closely with schools, universities, employers, and local authorities to ensure that College courses meet the needs of students and the local and regional economy.
This is a particularly exciting time to be studying at Southport College, with a state of the art Renewable Energy Training Centre, a refurbished Art and Design Centre, and newly opened library and University Centre.
The College has invested over £12 million into improving the learning environment for all of our students with many exciting plans for the future, ensuring that Southport College really is the first choice for training and education in the area.
