Southport College February Employer Forum

News item image Southport College are hosting another of their popular employer forums this month.

This month’s forum will be focused on the ISA Vetting & Barring Scheme, a topic previously suggested by feedback from employers. The informal discussion group will take place at Southport College’s Mornington Road site from 9.30am to 11.30am on Wednesday 24 February 2010.

The event is open to local employers from the Health and Social Care sector and offers the opportunity to listen to guest speaker Martin Murphy, Head of Personnel for Social Services. This month’s forum is particularly relevant to all those who manage staff and recruitment in the Health and Social Care sector. The session will also be certificated, counting towards employers’ Continued Professional Development.

The ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority) brought in the new Vetting & Barring Scheme back in October 2009 which has various implications for those working with vulnerable adults/children. The session aims to give an introduction to the Scheme and answer any questions that employers may have about the implications for them.

Rachel Sexton Employer Relationship Advisor said “This month’s forum will be an informative and constructive session, it will also provide an opportunity to meet the College''s Work-Based Learning Team and find out about any changes to funding and other new developments in employer training at Southport College. The event is free of charge and refreshments will be provided, we look forward to seeing you there.”

To book your place at the forum or for more information about future events and training for employers please contact Rachel Sexton in the Employer Services team on 0845 00 66 506 or email employer@southport.ac.uk
